Stay tuned to this space for exhaustive (in some cases) or frustratingly incomplete (in most) information relating to these releases (and any others I find in the meantime.) Work is being done on making many of these releases available in CD-R format. If you've got information on any releases I've missed, or especially if you have a copy of something I don't have listed, contact me (use the contact the webmaster link in the menu.)

Where song titles are linked, the links will lead you in the general direction of mp3 files located in various places online.

MotherLoad
Take a Motherload
1979
Halaka's first demo, before they were Halaka. Something like punk. 10 tracks, 27 minutes.

Whatever This Is
1980
An improvised mess of an in-studio free-for-all sounding pile of something. This material, with this title, only circulated to Motherload fans at concerts. Material from these sessions has been reworked a few times, and this is apparently an ongoing thing. Plans are being discussed to release a CDR of this pretty much as it was originally created, with some possible reworking (don't ask me, I just work here.) (Some reworked pieces of this currently available online, but we won't tell you what they are, you can be surprised if this re-release project gets itself going.) See also Motherload's "This is What", below.
Motherload
This is What?
1980
A (possibly misguided) attempt to bring Motherload's small, punk audience along with the changes they were obviously making by turning into Halaka. They used some of the material from Whatever This Is, added some 4/4 drums, bass, and guitars, and had a worse mess than they'd started with. Of course very few of the punk fans fell for this.

Up to See God
1986
A collection of noise, folk, and rock. Basic tracks were recorded as improvisations, in the studio. Some overdubs were added later. Some tracks are currently available at mp3.com. (Bad with People, Sleep of the Beacon.)

Food-Beer-Ice
1987
For some reason Halaka released this album as Motherload in 1987. It's unclear if it was recorded when they were called Motherload and not released, or if it was a re-release, or if it was recorded later and they just chose to call themselves Motherload again for some reason. At any rate, if you ask me, it's not a very good album.

1989
Halaka's pink album, this one's just an unmarked cassette in a pink, unmarked sleeve. Sounds pretty much like white noise; though to be honest I never finished listening to it because I've never felt like listening to a hour of white noise on cassete. (Update: * sent me an e-mail telling me it's PINK noise, not white noise. Well, duh.)
Halaka
Flabbergastastrophe
1990
This set consists of noise pieces. There is very little indication that the band had any intention, when putting this together, of releasing any copies of this stuff. The album was put together, on cassette, and passed around at some shows. Some of this material has recently been made available as mp3s on mp3.com. (And then mp3.com bellied themselves up, so Kingo moved the songs to Iuma, where these links lead, except that Iuma's belly's not far from going up either, or so it would seem, as the downloads don't usually work.)(The Exploding Right, To Indecipher Down Examination.)
Halaka
Stout Fish
1990
An e.p. of noise-covered folk music without track names. Apparently this was later released with Hearty Leper as a full-length cassette. Though I've got no copies of that around here to verify this.

Water You Talking About?

A lot of this material was recorded between 1983 and 1985, and "lost". Later it was found and compiled for this double-album.

State of Taking Over
1993
This album was recorded live, though whether it was live in a studio or in front of an audience is unclear. No known masters remain, and the only copies available to the band are rough mixes. The members have begun re-recording some of these songs, though how far this will go is anyone's guess. Stylistically, this is improvised heavy rock/noise. (Note: Originally there was a link here to an mp3 of Fish Keeps Swimmin', but the site on which it was hiding (stationmp3.com) has gone the way of many of the other mp3 hosts. * or Kingo may be putting up a copy here at some point, though they don't seem to be in a hurry.)

Sasha
1997
Originally released in 1997, Sasha is a horrible wreck of noise and, apparently, arguing. Halaka disavowed ownership of this album shortly after a limited cassette release, but sometime in 2003 someone re-released it on CD. For the CD release, in addition to the material from the original cassette, two additional songs were included which had been recorded around the same time.

Incidentally...
1998
Noisy rock played with minimal instrumentation. Full of flaws, this was probably mostly improvised. According to information released with this record, it is the first release (though not necessarily the first to be recorded) in a cycle of three. "Inadequate" is packaged in a similar fashion so probably that's the second in the series.
Song for a Calm, Cold Rainstorm (Christopher Get Up and Walk) » Can't See the Clouds for the Sun (Can't Get it Out) » Silent Falls (Hope You Like It) » Benny Had Taken Over For Awhile (It Must Be) » The Ideal Machine (I Hate Your Fucking Eye) » LDA (9 Is Not LDA!) » No Wings to Fly (Sad, Trying to be a Tuna) » This Song Is Just Dumb Shit (That's a Surprise about the Dumb Shit) » Track 9 (Just about This Long and Then We Stopped Recording)
Halaka
Inadequate
1999
Seven songs in five tracks, from folkish acoustic to noise. Mostly melancholic and (I think) introspective. This might be part of a cycle of three that also includes "Incidentally..." and a third (my guess is "A Translucent Gold Statue, A Hole")
false breath » the only way around » always anemic » flailing existentialism in a bag » oneplusoneminustwo » raging clankcracker » l'ost and f'ound
Halaka
God the Lunatic
1999
Noise? There's no official artwork for this, it's been sent in various formats to fans and radio stations.
Halaka
God, I am the Lunatic
2000
Released and/or unreleased in various formats. Probably the recordings here were used for the 1999 release "God the Lunatic," processed all to hell and back. What's here is "processed" too, but in a more analog manner. This release (complete audio from archive.org) is currently available for download. CD may also be obtained directly by contacting the webmaster.

Halaka
A Translucent Gold Statue, A Hole
2001
One of a matched set, possibly - a stripped-down Halaka record that's more EP than full-length. Though the running time puts it around 60 minutes, there are 7 tracks and the last two are extended noise-making. This release (complete audio and CD cover art) is currently available for download. CD may also be obtained directly by contacting the webmaster.
more than the mirror » to pick his bones » coming out of the little shells » comingthroughmydoor » dream in vertigo » what you keep peeling off » peeling off what you keep
Halaka
A Skintight Malevolence
2002
Some pieces of this album were originally circulated as "And Kind Ladies are Heaving About," attributed to Ahkala. These copies were bootlegs, probably started into circulation by the band, though this is unclear. Pieces were then re-worked, in some cases, and not in others, and a limited release of the material was made. The title was rarely the same. Some pieces, in various variations on "complete," have been made available online. (Ways to Deal with an Easy Day, Part 1)
Halaka
Diluted Years Concentrate
(2004 limited)
Released as a limited CDR, then apparently shoved into a closet. There are plans to re-distribute it, possibly using the original working title of "The Years Are Gradually Breaking My Concentration". That title was scrapped originally as it was stolen from an earlier fan-club only box set release. Depending on the version, this album has either 2 tracks or upwards of 20.
Halaka
The Man With a Slinky for a Head and Other Ghastly Tales
(2004 limited release e.p.)
A compilation of various songs from previous recordings revolving around the Slinkyhead theme. Three of the songs are available on Halaka's DMusic site.
slinky » slinkyhead » movement of the head » Lightning Bug's Not Real » slinkyhead (livebadly)
Halaka
Box of String
(2005? to be announced)
Currently being completed. Another part acoustic, sparse and noisy folk rock fusion mess.
